LASERS

Lasers can be used for spectacular laser light shows as shown in the photos from some of our laser shows on this page. Lasers can also be used to project text and simple images (like logos), to create signs made of laser light and for all sorts of special effects in photo, film and video shoots .

Clubtek have a range of lasers suitable for all uses and all size of venue from small bars to large arenas. Our largest most sophisticated laser is a 2000 milliWatt white light laser which is breathtakingly beautiful. We also have powerful 1000 milliWatt green lasers, some multi-colour lasers of about 500 milliWatts in size and a large range of smaller lasers from 350 mWatts down to 5 mWatts that produce either just green laser light or red, yellow and green laser light.

All of our lasers are Diode Pumped Solid State (DPSS) lasers which means they are more efficient to run than old fashioned lasers. They are all air cooled, run from a normal 13amp plug and are very compact, the largest weighs no more than 30kg, which makes them extremely versatile.

Prices to hire lasers are listed at the bottom of this page.

Please note that the smaller lasers can be run from a pre-programmed controller or even in auto mode but the bigger lasers (500mWatts and above) need a more sophisticated control desk/console and we prefer to hire these lasers with one of our operators or to professional laser/light engineers.

Also at the end of this page are a few interesting laser facts and some things you should know about health and safety regarding laser use.

Lasers For Sale

Click here to buy lasers in our web shop These lasers are the same as those we keep in our hire stock. We have been using them consistently since May 2007 and we are confident that the build quality is good and the laser diodes are both powerful and reliable with no noticeable loss of power over time. All laser units come with a one year guarantee.

a few laser facts

  • Lasers produce a particular type of light known as coherent light which means the light particles or photons are all of the same wavelength (colour) and are travelling in exactly the same direction.
  • This special kind of light is produced by stimulating the laser material to emit radiation of a specific frequency and wavelength determined by the material the laser is made from.
  • The name LASER is an anacronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.
  • You can see a simple explanation of how this amplified & stimulated emission works by clicking this link to Colorado university's web site http://www.colorado.edu/physics/2000/lasers/lasers2.html
  • We perceive colours of light differently, perceiving green light the best so it always seems brighter to us. Therefore a green laser of a certain power will always seem brighter than another colour laser of the same power. For a more technical description of just how differently we perceive light follow this link to Harvard university's web site http://people.seas.harvard.edu/~jones/cscie129/nu_lectures/lecture8/color/luminosity.html
  • White light is made up from the three primary colours of light, red, blue and green. So a laser described as a white light or RGB laser has the ability to project several different colours. Just how many colours is determined by the complexity of the laser control system. Some RGB lasers only project seven different colours, white, blue, red, green, cyan, majenta and yellow. Other more sophisticated lasers can produce millions of different hues.

laser Health and Safety considerations

Because of the nature of laser light it can be dangerous to human health, potentially causing eye damage and even skin burns. The Health and Safety Executive have published a leaflet introducing this topic and providing links to further information. Follow this link to read the HSE introductory leaflet http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/INDG224.htm

The relative danger of lasers is classified according to their type and output power, basically any laser over 5 milli Watts could be dangerous and certain precautions should be taken.

The main publication providing guidance on running safe laser shows is the HSE guidance publication HSG(95). We adhere to these guidelines when running laser shows. We also have copies of the HSG(95) publication for perusal in our shop for those hiring lasers from us.

Venue owners should be aware that their local council may need to be aware of any laser shows happening on their premises as part of the licensing procedures. This requirement varies from council to council. Some councils require to see a copy of our method statement for the laser show and risk assessment with reference to the HSE guidelines (95) before they will grant a license - we are happy to provide these when requested.
